Tall Tales and Storied Steps - A Story Walk for All the Family
 
Join local and widely-travelled performance storyteller Alastair K Daniel on a story walk round St John's Church with tales of dragons, devils and disguises. Old and young will be invited to see the church and its environs with fresh eyes through stories drawn from a range of traditions and, at the same time, learn something of the true history of the building and its people.
 
Alastair K Daniel is an international storyteller, artist-educator and long-standing member of Surrey Storytellers (which meets in the parish). He is a member of the St John's community and helps to lead Junior Church. 
 
Saturday 12 September: 2.30-3.30pm - meeting outside the church by the War Memorial
(the walk is very gentle, but please wear sensible shoes and bring an umbrella or rain-wear if the forecast suggests unsettled weather).

        The Men's Thing
A programme of talks held on the 2nd Saturday of each month in the church extension. Tea, coffee biscuits etc. available from 10am for a 10.30am start. Men and women are all welcome.

September 19th,  -  Peter Lutton talking about 'What exactly is an organ?' . 
 Please note this talk will be held on the third Saturday of the month .

October 10th , -  Georgina Fauconier talking about biodiversity in the borough of Kingston.

November 14th ,-  David Hassards talking about Kingston's aviation history. " Bat Boat to Red Arrows ."
 
December 12th - Alistair Daniels with a seasonal talk.

January 9th - Ben Gilby giving a talk on  1979: Why it was such an important year
St. John's weekly get together  for all those who would enjoy a cup of tea, piece of cake, and meeting new people!  Run by St. John's volunteers every week on  Thursdays from 2:00-4:00pm
at the Church Hall 411 Malden Road
St John’s Knitting & Crochet Group  
 
Thursday 24th September from 2.00pm in the Coffee Lounge at St. John's. Would you like to brush up on your knitting skills – or learn to crochet? New members and beginners always welcome. Tea, cake and biscuits together with a friendly ambience.   Do join us! Marilyn     
 
In partnership with Princess Alice Hospice , St
John’s runs an informal support group for all those
experiencing the loss of a loved one. The next
meeting will be in the coffee lounge at St. John's
on Tuesday September 15th 2:00- 3:30pm.

Today, St. John the Baptist, Old Malden, is announcing a £250,000 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund that will allow us to make urgent repairs to our historic building.
